Using SlapSwap
By creating an account or using SlapSwap, you agree to these terms. You need to be old enough to form a binding agreement where you live, and to keep your account details accurate. These terms cover buyers, sellers, and traders alike.
What SlapSwap is
SlapSwap is a venue that connects collectors to buy, sell, and trade collectibles, and holds funds safely while a deal completes. Except where we say otherwise, the seller, not SlapSwap, is the one selling the item. We provide the marketplace, safeguards, and tools. The transaction is between members.
Your account and conduct
You're responsible for what happens under your account. Keep your login secure, and don't:
- List or sell items you don't own or can't lawfully sell.
- List stolen, counterfeit, or misrepresented items.
- Manipulate reviews, reputation, offers, or prices.
- Harass other members or evade moderation and safety tools.
Listing and selling
When you list an item, you agree that:
- You'll show real photographs of the actual item, front and backbefore it goes live. Stock catalogue images don't stand in for the item you're selling.
- Your description is accurate, including condition and any flaws.
- You'll ship promptly once a sale is confirmed, and keep the item as described until it does.
We screen listings against a stolen-item registry and may remove listings or hold funds where something looks wrong.
Buying and escrow
When you buy, your payment is held by SlapSwap instead of being paid to the selleruntil the item reaches you and you confirm it matches the listing. If it doesn't, the held funds are ours to return rather than the seller's to keep. You can follow each step in your order tracker.
Higher-value items can be routed through our facility first. We call the result Listing Verified: we confirm the listing accurately describes the item. It is a description check. We verify listings. We do not authenticate or grade items.and Listing Verified is not a grading opinion or a valuation.
Trades
Trades swap items between members, sometimes with cash on one side. The same protections apply: items (and any cash) are held while the trade completes, either party can route a trade through inspection where eligible, and a trade that can't complete is unwound with items and funds returned.
Fees
We charge a single fee, taken only when your item sells. There is no listing fee or buyer's premium. Payment processing and any sales tax pass through as their own lines, and we don't mark them up. The current rates are read live from our fee schedule. See the full fee schedule and calculator.
Reviews and reputation
Reviews must reflect real, first-hand experience. Reputation on SlapSwap is built from factual signals about a member's track record, not a single mystery score, and it can't be bought or traded. Fabricating or manipulating reviews is grounds for removing them and acting on the account.
Disputes, refunds, and chargebacks
If something goes wrong, open a dispute from the order and we'll work it. Because funds are held until confirmation, an unresolved order can be refunded from the held amount rather than chased after the fact.
If a completed payment is later reversed by the card issuer (a chargeback), SlapSwap may recover the corresponding amount, including from funds or payouts associated with the account, to keep the marketplace's books whole.
Your content
You keep ownership of the photos and text you post. You grant SlapSwap a limited licence to host and display that content so we can operate the marketplace and show your listings and posts to other members. Don't post content you don't have the rights to.
Disclaimers, liability, and governing law
SlapSwap verifies listings and safeguards funds, but the marketplace and its services are provided as-is. We don't warrant that every listing or member will meet your expectations, and Listing Verified is a description check, not an authentication or valuation.
The formal limitation-of-liability, indemnity, dispute-resolution, arbitration, and governing-law terms are being finalised with counsel and will appear here in the final version. We haven't written binding versions of those into this draft rather than state something we can't stand behind.
Changes, termination, and contact
We may update these terms as the product changes, and we'll note when they were last reviewed. You can close your account at any time, and we may suspend or close accounts that break these terms. Questions? Reach us through Share feedback.
